Museum Open for Scotch Plains Holiday Celebration

26 November 2021

On December 5th, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm our museum will be open and participating in the township holiday celebration. The museum is beautifully decorated with the theme of “A Victorian Christmas.” The tree is decorated with presents underneath while excited children and mothers peer at the antique toys. The mannequins are dressed in opulent and authentic clothing from the late 1800’s. Small tasty treats will be handed out. The museum is located at 1840 East Front street, Scotch Plains, New Jersey adjacent to the Alan Augustine Town Green.

Masks are mandatory in the museum. We all want to be able to celebrate our own Historical Society party on Sunday December 5th. After the Osborn Cannonball House is closed to the public at 4:00pm, the Historical Society members will have their own holiday celebration. We will have hot mulled cider and members are asked to bring something delicious to share. Yum.

Osborn Cannonball House Museum Open

1 May 2019

The Osborn Cannonball House will be open to visitors on Sunday May 5th, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm. It is located at 1840 East Front street, Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Come see our new well house lovingly crafted by member George Pierson. The more astute of you may notice that the well is much too close to the privy. However, there is no well under the well house nor is there a pit under the privy so don’t be concerned.

The Great Depression

21 April 2019

Please mark your calendars for our April monthly meeting on Tuesday evening April 23rd.

Last month one of our high school members presented an incredible program on World War II. And this month another of our high school members will be presenting another incredible program on the Great Depression. Michael Cao will focus on the relief efforts as well as giving an overview of the impact of the Depression.

Prohibition overlapped the Depression so we are staging our meeting room as a Speakeasy. Feel free to come in Gatsby-style clothing….or your old clothes/hobo outfit.

Date: Tuesday evening April 23rd
Time: 7:30PM
Place: Shady Rest at Scotch Hills Country Club
